The  recent rampage that claimed at least 12 lives at a Colorado theater showing the latest Batman movie is among the deadliest mass shootings in the U.S. in the past 15 years. The toll approaches the 15 killed in the 1999 massacre at Columbine High School in Littleton, Colorado, about 20 miles (32 kilometers) from Aurora, where today’s shooting occurred during an early morning screening (TWX) of “The Dark Knight Rises.” The deadliest such incident in the U.S. since then is the Virginia Tech rampage of April 2007 in Blacksburg, Virginia, in which Seung-Hui Cho took 33 lives, including his own .A decade ago Michael Moore made a documentary called  Bowling for Columbine . The thesis of the film was  United States of America is notorious for its astronomical number of people killed by firearms for a developed nation without a civil war. sets out to explore the roots of this bloodshed. In doing so, he learns that the conventional answers of easy availability of guns, violent national history, violent entertainment and even poverty are inadequate to explain this violence when other cultures share those same factors without the equivalent carnage. In order to arrive at a possible explanation, Michael Moore takes on a deeper examination of America's culture of fear, bigotry and violence in a nation with widespread gun ownership. Furthermore, he seeks to investigate and confront the powerful elite political and corporate interests fanning this culture for their own unscrupulous gain. Our nation has been  under the banner of fear for a long time.   It's likely that it will continue because our gun laws allow for deranged persons to acquire them.Typical American response which explains why there are more killings in the US than in any other country on this planet. Americans are hopelessly in love with guns. We constantly hear of gang shootings in Oakland . Criminals are armed , and the law is weak and paralyzed by liberalism.  Automatic weapons for instance , as to why they are sold along with army style assault weapons staggers the mind . We have laws on the book that if they were enforced they would be difficult to get . There again you would have to profile those that buy such weapons . If the government can't figure what a 'loner type' goes and buys a automatic assault weapon that should prove otherwise that he not going to hunt lions and elephants .Yes, and the reason why this tragedy happens is because any idiot can go buy a gun.  There is more news about family killing family or strangers killing strangers than someone actually being able to defend their property or self.  Things are going to get worse as the economy worsens. People are going crazy and nothing is worse than a gun with someone gone crazy.

NOTES & COMMENTS:

The Media on the left is already trying to hook up the shooter with the TEA PARTY > ABC reported . " James Holmes who was arrested at the Aurora theater was 24 years old and seems to be from Denver, CO, according to a Facebook profile. There are many people with the name “James Holmes” in the area, and the James Homes on the Tea Party website could match a James Homes from Aurora, CO who is in his fifties and therefore does not fit the description of the suspect."
I don't think that Holmes was connected to terrorism , but it seems strange that he had a stash of weapons , ammo and bomb making equipment at his apartment . Which required a robot to carefully enter his apartment investigate trip lines to a bomb.
