The Fall of Gov. Coumo

LAST YEAR there were "signs" that New York Gov. Coumo was heading for trouble. His arrogance was in full display when he was asked about the deaths of elderly in the nursing home Covid scandal -
“That’s stupid; next question,” Gov. Andrew Cuomo told a reporter who’d asked him to respond to criticism that his  (1)>>$5.1 million book deal came on the backs of dead elderly New Yorkers. Is he losing it?After all, he answered another question: “Yes, people died, people died, from COVID. . . . Eighteen people died yesterday. Who is to blame? Who is to blame? How do you want to politicize 18 deaths of yesterday?” Coumo was obviously to blame for the deaths of those elderly. Pretty much we did not hear anymore about him till the sex scandals started leaking through the liberal media. I feel part of it is this old folks home scandal has been more of a slow burn that’s opened up over the past six months or so. NOW  (2)>>Gov. Andrew Cuomo (D-NY) could face criminal charges and arrest if an investigation into a criminal sexual complaint filed Thursday turns up evidence that substantiates the allegations. Would expect nothing less from Coumo. As I said in a different comment, he's been running NYS as if he was the mafia. You can see the connections and how corrupt he and his administration is if you try looking. The cries for Gov. Cuomo to resign or for his impeachment did not really start until after a number of women came forward with accusations of sexual harassment. (3)>>But almost the entire column was about his actions in response to the coronavirus pandemic and the number of older people who died as a result. The nursing home deaths—while considered tragic—were old news and had been accepted by the media.
Cuomo went on to encourage New Yorkers to wait for the facts uncovered by the attorney general's review before formulating any opinion of him, and strongly upheld that, while he did not know at the time that he was making people feel uncomfortable, that he has never touched anyone inappropriately. Cuomo spent four years demonizing this behavior by Trump. Cuomo called for Kavanagh to submit to a lie detector test to prove his innocence. Cuomo has positioned himself as the self proclaimed champion of women's rights, and has been extremely vocal about sexual harassment being wrong. Now he, you, and others seem to feel since Trump did worse, Cuomo should get a pass. Cuomo set the bar higher, he should be judged on the standards he set for others, not the low bar set by Trump.Again, never said he shouldn't face consequences. I'm just calling out hypocritical behavior of people who are calling for him to resign when they clearly weren't that critical of other people who have done much worse. The 165-page investigative report lays out in great detail the allegations of harassment and retaliation. It also is much more damning in establishing a pattern of conduct. Cuomo was reportedly interviewed for 11 hours as part of the investigation, and “did not dispute that he sometimes commented on staff members’ appearance and attire (although generally only to compliment), and stated that, being “old fashioned,” he sometimes used terms of endearment such as ‘honey,’ ‘darling,’ or ‘sweetheart.’ He also did not dispute that he gave regular hugs and kisses on the cheek and forehead. But he did dispute the way in which those actions had been interpreted by the complainants,” according to the report. Cuomo, though, suggested that the allegations were politically motivated or the result of animosity against him. He also expressed the view that the investigation itself was politically motivated. That report marked another milestone in the spectacular fall from grace of the three-term governor, who just a year ago had become a national figure, praised for his calm leadership during the COVID-19 crisis. Now, many of the same Democrats, including the president himself, who had lauded Cuomo's performance are calling for him to resign. Some political strategists suggest his continued presence on the national U.S. stage will provide an unwanted distraction for Democrats. Tons of democrats in the legislature are calling for him to resign, and all of the republicans will support that as well. He has sharp elbows and has no favors to call in, and no real allies. I predict that he will be impeached and removed from office. Just my opinion, it’s no more or less valid than yours of course.

NOTES AND COMMENTS:
(1)>>$5.1 million book .In October, Governor Andrew Cuomo was promoting his book, American Crisis: Leadership Lessons From the COVID-19 Pandemic, just seven months after said pandemic began. Tens of thousands of people had died in his home state; at one point, New York City had the highest death rate in the world. Critics thought his bombast was arrogant and insensitive given how much New Yorkers had suffered and were still suffering — after the holidays, and Cuomo’s book publication, the infection rates in New York soared again.Biden hailed Cuomo as the "gold standard" for COVID-19 management and praised his "leadership." There were rumblings of a presidential bid, and a Canadian poll suggested Cuomo would be a top Democratic contender for 2024 if Biden declined to seek a second term.(2)>>Gov. Andrew Cuomo (D-NY) could face criminal charges and arrest .A former staffer for embattled New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo who told investigators he groped her breast and rear end has filed a criminal complaint against the Democrat, the Albany County sheriff’s office . Democratic criticism gives the mainstream media permission to investigate Cuomo, which they are finally beginning to do. Gov. Cuomo could go to jail , is vary incredible . Cuomo has been trying to cut a deal with top state officials, promising not to seek a fourth term if impeachment talks are scuttled — but no one is buying it. State Attorney General Letitia James’ released a damning 168-page report detailing a stunning history of claims — mostly corroborated — alleging that Cuomo made inappropriate comments, planted unwanted kisses and even groped women in the state’s employ and otherwise.James chose to release the report without bringing criminal charges or even referring the matter to any district attorney, but some of the allegations may rise to the level of possible criminal behavior.  (3)>>But almost the entire column was about his actions in response to the coronavirus pandemic and the number of older people who died as a result. The nursing home deaths— There is growing Democratic criticism of the governor’s handling – or should we say “mishandling”? – of the coronavirus pandemic, in which perhaps thousands of seniors in New York nursing homes died needlessly due to Cuomo’s ill-fated policies, followed by a cover-up.He covered up the release of public health data during a global pandemic to protect his reputation. That's unacceptable, and of course he should resign, no matter what the truth of the allegations against him for sexual harassment is.The nursing home is enough to impeach him I agree. I don’t think politicians should be forced to resign their office if they are elected. I think if they have done something wrong, the other aspects of government should act.Yes. The nursing home scandal alone was enough to make me want him to resign.Several republicans I follow were calling out the nursing home thing for a long time before it “came out”, but they were called conspiracy theorists because apparently instead of investigating we’ve collectively decided it’s easier to just draw some connection to qanon, call it crazy and be done with it
