To Re-OPEN Schools or NOT to Re-OPEN Schools ?

It's time to open up school , but lets be a
bit cautious first because its
heading towards
mandatory vaccinations .

Education is one of the most important institution that any country would have. (1)>>NOW the science regarding whether or not opening schools is "safe." Given what we know so far about children being a lower-risk group than adults for infection, disease, and probably even transmission of this particular virus, and mounting international evidence that K-12 schools aren't frequently implicated in COVID spread, (1.2)>>the epidemiologist author believes that the known harms of keeping schools closed for another year will likely outweigh the risks that COVID-19 poses in the school environment, and details the compelling data/studies used to reach that conclusion -- with the caveat that more research still needs to be done to definitively answer some of the questions, and that hygiene/testing/tracing are important to identify and manage any possible outbreaks.BUT during the so called Pandemic last year in all countries the US shut down almost all of its public education systems . While the move was about public safety , slowing the spread . We all know that it's been almost a year that schools closed down . BUT now we are hearing that in many places  (1.2)>>schools have been open since March of last year depending on which state in the US . So, if medical experts, educators, and politicians keep flip flopping to parents about informed consent here then they're not going to  (2)>>have it for the vaccines that possibly come later.Vaccine campaigns require public trust and confidence. I'm telling you how fragile trust is. And we are already off to a really bad start. We are rushing a 3 way vaccine from several pharmaceutical companies . Like wise , I guess the media propaganda is to scare us into getting that vaccine . People do not trust pharmaceutical companies.  (3)>>The realistic plan is to vaccinate teachers , staff and finally the Children who attend the public schools . Right now its a free for all to get the shot. IN the coming months government is going to force educators to get the vaccine , have proof that you had the shot , or it's your job . Children who don't get the vaccine may not be allowed to return to school . But Politicians are the ones that messed up this whole thing. LIKE People don't trust politicians. And they have expressed dissatisfaction in their government's ability to keep them safe. The (4)>>MADNESS
TO RUSH GET TO NORMALCY is not a wise way , like you compare it to being on a road , you have road bumps , you go too fast your going to blow out a tire . I can under stand that most teachers are frustrated with the new control measures , school administrators can't be blamed because they are following some rather flip flop government guidelines for school re-opening .  (5)>>So what are challenges to re-opening ? My biggest issue is that it fails to differentiate between elementary, middle and high school. Judging from the recent reports of spread at camps, I suspect we will discover that older students have a significantly different risk of transmission than younger students. There is also not enough data regarding the mitigation methods used in other countries . Many were able to reduce contact via distancing fairly significantly. That is not likely to be the case in cash strapped urban districts. The issue of staff risk is noted, and should not be discounted. Schools may struggle to maintain adequate staffing due to illness or caution. Schools are complex systems and fairly easy to disrupt, especially when trying to maintain safe ratios.
School bureaucracy don't want to go back.
Here is the so called proverbial kicker , after listening on my state's Department of Education,  90 % of the Zoom pow wows are about improving the technological divide . It sounds really dandy , but what I am getting at is they talk about more about distance learning rather to open up any school in California. Since Covid hit the state of California it seems to  ME that Education Bureaucracy is pushing for extending distancing learning for some time in the long term .  (6)>>This whole mess is really the State Governor's fault , since last year he created the states Distance Learning format  , causing many school districts to shift their resources towards electronic learning. NOW that price tag for every school district was in the billions of dollars . Last year California budget nearly crashed as you remember . It put most school districts to send most of the staff at home teaching , laying off classroom aides , yard duties . Another problem are the Teacher's Unions , they have pushed for safety for school reopening challenging the California governor's own often confusing guidelines . This has been a ongoing problem since last summer .It's going to take a long time as I see it before any of the players in education are willing to take a risk on going back to full bloom in person learning . May be that Los Gatos Union School District was right in sneaking in and  getting the teachers in that District to get vaccinated from Good Sam Hospital. . .

So What DO I think that it will get back to Normal ?
I was asked that what my views are to this . I can't really give a good answer .  As far from returning to normal the "color tiers" don't exactly say your in the safe zone . Example Red to Purple, it's not that you in the yellow zone , indicates minimal COVID-19 spread and allows for nearly all businesses to reopen indoor operations . Most Bay Area Counties are  NOT in this color . Most of the State's data on Covid should be looked at closely , I suspect most of it is really way off the center . WE still see daily numbers going up . That influences what the State really does . WELL bottom line nothing is going to change for a while . One factor to play is possible Recall of Gov. Newsom . If he is replaced with a Republican Governor the likely hood that every school will open up under modified guidelines , that is another year. Between working with the State Teacher's Union . Some type of change could get entangled between Biden's attempt to force vaccines on schools with his administration's opening plans . SO FOR THE REST OF THE YEAR . I can say it's still a long way from being normal for public education .

NOTES AND COMMENTS:

(1)>>NOW the science regarding whether or not opening schools is "safe." So, the answer is: you must decide now, you must take a great consideration about numbers 👉see [ https://www.usnews.com/news/health-news/articles/2020-12-02/shut-them-down-why-schools-might-not-be-safe-during-covid-19 ] Well, its sounds great, but the habits of kids and teenagers are a lot more dangerous than... (no, i don’t want to take those college assholes that made covid parties) being at home, under parental watch. Then, a lot of what is asked from the author to the government its just surreal. It sounds great! It could be a first great step to fight the virus, but, unfortunately, the actual government doesn’t give a fuck. They rather give millions to some companies (suspicious ones) to run some kind of control program that for sure its going to fail. Not only on USA but all around the world, politics and ignorance are the biggest cause of failure on this battle against COVID.(1.2)>>the epidemiologist author .  The American Academy of Pediatrics last month also recommended that schools reopen, a position widely cited by the Trump administration, which has been pushing hard for a return to something resembling normal life despite soaring infection rates in many states. (1.3)>>schools have been open since March of last year.  NOT EVERY STATE IS THE SAME. Every American State is different According to data compiled by Education Week, most states are dealing with a wide array of approaches to kicking off the new school year.  There are really bad states under draconian lock-downs  like California. Only four states of the 50 in America have opened up their schools .The United States has more than 98,000 public schools and at least 34,000 private schools, according to the National Center for Education Statistics Almost 50.8 million students are enrolled in public schools and 5.8 million in private schools. Schools in blue states may take much longer to reopen than those Red States.   (2)>>have it for the vaccines that possibly come later.  Remember I don't Trust Dr. Fauci  but parents should be aware what his plan is , the Federal Government's plan . 👉Children could start getting vaccinated for Covid-19 by early summer [ that is 2021 ] , said Dr. Anthony Fauci, the country’s top infectious disease expert at a White House briefing.Vaccinating children, who make up a quarter of the U.S. population, is necessary to achieve herd immunity, or widespread resistance to the disease, according to an Associated Press article. About 70 to 855 of the population must be vaccinated to reach herd immunity. This makes opening up schools in a rather tricky situation . If a Child is not vaccinated , he or she may be denied entry to the school . It is vary likely this could happen nation wide .(3)>>The realistic plan is to vaccinate teachers . CALIFORNIA TEACHERS UNION sent a statement to California Gov. Newsom in a letter that they don't feel safe to return to in person learning , they would rather wait 100 days till every teacher is vaccinated . Just recently there was a news story about . Officials at the County of Santa Clara, south of San Francisco, learned this week that in order to get vaccinated at an area hospital, teachers at a local school pretended to be eligible healthcare workers — at the invitation of the hospital itself. The Good Samaritan hospital had said on Jan. 12 it was “only in a position to be vaccinating healthcare workers” and had not as yet reached out to the second tier, for people 75 and older. The county began an investigation a week later when it came to their attention that teachers appeared to be jumping the hospital’s queue,  falsely said that they were healthcare workers in order to get covid-19  shots from Good Sam Hospital. . .This is how CRAZY things are just coming down . The county health department says protocol allows for the administration of vaccines to those in lower tiers if the county “has maximized use of the vaccine” to higher tiers.  (4)>>MADNESS TO RUSH GET TO NORMALCY is not a wise wayThere's been a lot of grumbling and protests lately across the country, with people calling for the shutdowns to stop immediately. Many people are citing statistics about the death rate of COVID-19, saying it's lower than initially thought, that it's not much worse than the flu.BBC’s Andrew Marr Show , that he believes that things could feel more normal in a year’s time--normal the year 2022 ?, and thanks to vaccine efforts “we could have a normal winter next next year.” However, the University of Liverpool’s Julian Hiscox told the BBC in  LAST October “we won't be 'back to 2019' for five years," saying the initial vaccines may not be perfect and that they "won't necessarily" reduce the spread of the virus beyond a level at which the pandemic eases from a crisis state, but at which we’ll still need to wear masks and socially distance for years until better vaccines are developed.(5)>>So what are challenges to re-opening ?  The School landscape has changed , with last years CDC guidelines school districts faced problems on implementing , and how to "re invent" the Classroom , the teacher . Incredibility it requires a lot of money . Technology , safety protocols .  The fear of how wide spread the virus is , the vast fear monger propaganda at work last year frighted a great deal of parents . For example 👉In guidance from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, schools are called a "potential source of COVID-19 outbreaks, due to the number of individuals intermingling in close proximity for extended periods of time." It makes sense when you think about it. Stuff a bunch of people into a confined space for eight hours a day and the likelihood of catching the virus increases.Even if transmission rates and serious cases are very low, students physically attending school could carry at least some infections home to family members—who could face far worse health threats and spread the virus more effectively among the general population. United States are seeing an unsettling glimpse of our future. Some images filtering in from other countries are deeply depressing (French children cordoned off in white squares on a playground) while others evoke wary amusement (Chinese children in masks and handmade propeller beanies with four-foot wingspans). A few are actually inspiring (an outdoor music class in Denmark). Adults are now debating how and when American schools can safely reopen.  The other challenge is the "numbers" we get daily  seem to be going up . There are a lot of challenges , there are a lot of conflicting and confusing  "advice" from both the Federal and State governments . (6)>>This whole mess is really the State Governor's fault.  Who's ever heard of "distance learning " ? Last July California Gov. Newsom laid the foundation for it , for his State . He said last year  : “Learning is non-negotiable,” said Governor Newsom. “The virus will be with us for a year or more, and school districts must provide meaningful instruction in the midst of this pandemic. In California, health data will determine when a school can be physically open – and when it must close – but learning should never stop. Students, staff, and parents all prefer in-classroom instruction, but only if it can be done safely.” Quoting Newsom 👉[  https://www.gov.ca.gov/2020/07/17/governor-gavin-newsom-lays-out-pandemic-plan-for-learning-and-safe-schools/ ] . Distance Learning is vary expensive rather than in-person learning , but in some ways vary controlling . Newsom announced that even for schools that only do online, distance learning, the state will be making sure there are rigorous standards. Now these "standards" are so unrealistic for one classroom teacher to control . Daily attendance is based on who shows up in the Zoom classroom. Perhaps to note is distance learning requires a lot of internet use , being online is monopolized by the Cable and Phone companies . The question of student access to the internet which is not exactly free is another question why the Department of Ed is too focused on closing the digital divide rather than opening up the classroom for full instruction .
