Director James Comey. But the most startling disclosure was Giuliani’s assertion that Trump not only knew about Cohen’s $130,000 payment to buy the silence of adult-film star Stormy Daniels about her alleged affair with the president, but that he reimbursed Cohen for the hush money—potentially implicating Trump in a violation of campaign-finance laws. The president's critics have said that these latest revelations if anything strengthened the case .

  NOW if there is a violation of federal law here now both the (2)>>President and Giuliani insist that the payment had nothing to do with the campaign the president said in a series of tweets today that this was a payment made to basically prevent someone from from making what the president considers false allegations about a sexual affair and that it was done through a what he called a fairly common arrangement for celebrities and people who are wealthy a nondisclosure agreement payments made and in return the person who has a claim to make is silent there are some legal critics of the president who already have objected to the payment from Michael Kohn to stormy Daniels as a violation of campaign finance law who say that trumps acknowledgment that he reimbursed a (2.2)>>Cohen for the payment and and statements made today by Giuliani basically saying imagine if this had come out in the weeks before the election during the last debate what that would have been like that the combination of those things strengthened the case that that this payment was a violation of campaign finance law they say that it's clear that the money was paid to her as a way of trying to influence the election by keeping her silent it was a way of trying to influence the election it's  unclear where this goes from here there are there are complaints have been filed there are complaints filed with the Federal Election Commission that often take quite some time to resolve I mean they're measured sometimes in years so it's not that any action is imminent on that there are also been lawsuits filed by storming Daniel's whose real name is Stephanie Clifford one of those lawsuits has been put on hold by a judge the other was just filed is unclear how what what has been said in the last day might affect the Mueller investigation . President Trump however is vary confident about Rudy , “Rudy is a great guy, but he just started a day ago,” Trump told the White House press pool on Friday morning as he prepared to fly to Dallas to address the National Rifle Association. “He really has his heart into it, he’s working hard, he’s learning the subject matter. And he’s going to be issuing a statement, too, but he is a great guy. He knows it’s a witch hunt. That’s what he knows. He’s seen a lot of them, and he said he’s never seen anything so horrible.” At this point, Trump entered into a discussion of Hillary Clinton’s e-mails—it was, after all, a day ending in “Y”—before returning to Giuliani and reiterating his point: “He started yesterday. He’ll get his facts straight. He’s a great guy.”
