How many US citizens are fighting in Ukraine? This is big news if accurate. According to a March 2022 statement by the Ukrainian Foreign Minister, Dymetro Kuleba, over 20,000 volunteers have joined the Ukrainian armed forces, of which an estimated (1)>>several thousand are American citizens.We have to hold accountable western countries who continue to send weapons aid (debt) to Ukraine which makes the war longer, but forgets to provide diplomatic means for both sides for peace. Especially America's cowardice to use Ukraine as a shield against Russia. We must learn from history that wars in europe never ended quickly. The problem is it is nearly impossible to actually determine if it is true. The source given in the article is "Ria Novosti," Russian state media. The Der Spiegel article linked by OP in comments cites the same, and the Le Monde article also neglects to cite a definitive source. So far this reads as rumor, hatched in Russia, which is dubious at best. There's been so much propaganda being slung on both sides that pictures of US weapons and gear wouldn't really sway me. I felt the same regarding the NYT pictures of the "little green men" sighted in Eastern mainland Ukraine who the Ukrainians claimed were also in Crimea. I think we'd need something more concrete, but judging by the secrecy and resources of Academi I doubt we get any hard evidence. No paper trails, certainly, at least for another 50 years or so. They all left when it looked like Russia was about to invade but it wouldn't surprise me if the CIA was still there in some capacity. Why doesn't Joe Biden do something really worthwhile and propose a peace plan? No matter how this turns out, some thorny issues need to be addressed. Like Russia's naval base at Sevastopol, built in 1772 before the US even existed. What will happen to that? Ukraine has nothing to do with “freedom and democracy.” It’s an authoritarian and corrupt. The U.S. Has no legitimate business being involved in this war without a declaration by Congress.
