Dolezal's deception was unnoticed for years . Why everyone is jumping the gun? |
Why Dolezal's deception hurt Civil Rights:
The current president of an Arizona chapter of the NAACP is white. In an interview on CNN he pointed out how important having credibility is in a job where the primary duty is to raise money to fund the organization's efforts. Dolezal had to resign as the Spokane chapter president not because she's really white, but because her credibility is now compromised by her exposed history of deceit. In addition to trying to redefine DNA and race as just a "fluid construct", and calling her lies "creative fiction" Dolezal is now misappropriating the term "transracial." The term actually refers to adoptions of a child by a family of different race. Fraud and con artist are terms more accurately describing Dolezal's transformation.Instead of doing interviews with Savannah Guthrie, Matt Lauer and Melissa Harris-Perry, Dolezal needs to be interviewed by Dr. Drew Pinsky about her identity crisis. The city of Spokane launched an investigation Thursday to determine whether Dolezal lied on her application for the citizen police ombudsman commission, KXLY reported.Dolezal did not address the validity of the allegations in her resignation. The ethics allegations against Dolezal, and two other commission members, stem from the findings of two independent lawyers hired by the eastern Washington city to investigate an April 16 whistle-blower complaint by a Spokane employee. The report was published on Wednesday. In addition to the confidentiality issues, the probe found Dolezal engaged in workplace harassment as head of the Office of Police Ombudsman Commission, Stuckart said, without elaborating.
The Rundown . Do we care?, So what.
FINALLY . Do we really need to be a bit judgmental ? I know in my sentences above I was a bit critical . I don't care if Ms. Dolezal wants to identify as belonging to the black community . I really don't even if Bruce Jenner wants to be Caitlyn . One thing that I do care is when some thing becomes "exploitative" . In these cases we always will have the media circus . They will bombard us away from what is really important in our society . You just know that conservatives will jump all over Ms. Dolezal and her particular personal situation and try their hardest to expand it. That this is a case of a woman passing herself off as black presumably in order to partake of the rich bounty of opportunities available to black women but not to white women. OK, MAYBE she lied to advance her self . She got so far , rose to the ranks of the NAACP . Sadly we need to see enough "whites" support the African -American case , its simply , its bringing them out of poverty , PERHAPS we could have a much nobler society . The history of people breaching social divides and fashioning identities for themselves is as old as America.I think Dolezal is a national hero for breaking the racism combination lock. She has displayed true freedom of human rights. It is the news media that chooses what is right and wrong, and that has been exposed through Dolezal.

NOTES AND COMMENTS:
(1)>>Dolezal, 37, resigned this week as president of the Spokane chapter of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People, a leading civil rights organization, amid reports she was falsely claiming to be African-American.Dolezal has told U.S. media she identifies as black, and the controversy has triggered a national debate over the bounds of racial identity and self-identification. (2)>>Ezra Dolezal would love to see his sister, Rachel, take a DNA test to prove whose version of the truth about her racial identity is the right one.But he doesn't think she will. (3)>>“transracial”. Transracial adoptees and their allies are speaking out about Rachel Dolezal' sand other's use of the term "transracial" in conversations wrestling with her identity, arguing that it does not mean choosing to change one's race, rather it means the adoption of a child, usually a child of color, by a family of another race, usually a Caucasian family. Rep. Tim Huelskamp (R-KS), one of the most anti-LGBT lawmakers in Congress, joked on Twitter, “Twisted world: transgender and transracial are ‘in’; and trans fats are out! #jenner #dolezal.” In other words, the nature and language of gender identities does not translate into conversations around race; there is no such thing as “transracial” in terms of a person who identifies as a race other than what was assigned at birth. But “transracial” does mean something else, and the people who identify with that word, adoptees raised in a family of a different race, are speaking out.In the past few days, some conservatives have latched onto Dolezal’s bizarre tale of “transracial” masquerading as a way to discredit Caitlyn Jenner and other transgender people, prompting a flood of response pieces pointing out the scientific spuriousness of the comparison. Two weeks ago, the media was celebrating Caitlyn Jenner’s decision to come out on the cover of Vanity Fair. Now, we’re debating how closely Jenner’s relatively straightforward transgender narrative resembles the story of an Idahoan white woman who has been lying about her race for years while holding a leadership position in the NAACP.Last month the left was slobbering over Bruce Jenner for peddling himself in as a chick in a dress. The new PC line was that if he "identifies" as a girl then everybody has to play along. But now when a white broad "identifies" as being black they throw her under the bus. Her lie is no different than lady Bruce's.
